My full hysterectomy was originally scheduled for October 14th, 2024, but insurance was refusing to pay, saying, the surgery to end my unbearable pain was elective surgery and not medically necessary. My surgeon knew I had PCOS and fibroids, but suspected I also had endometriosis.
I was ready to stop living in pain, but it was so stressful, especially as a single homeowner, because without insurance, I didn’t know how I was going to afford to pay for the surgery.
A good friend had undergone surgery with funding from MomminWithEndo so I reached out, hopeful they would be able to help me with my hysterectomy.
I’m very thankful Katie gave me the contact information to MomminWithEndo.
I was so grateful for all the support MomminWithEndo gave me during that wild ride! After fighting and pushing my surgery date back, my doctor was finally able to convince insurance the surgery was medically necessary.
My pathology report confirmed the mass they found during surgery was endometriosis. Post-hysterectomy, I tried to avoid hormone therapy replacement, but heart palpitations and severe migraines pushed me to start with patches. Patches led to violent vomiting, but the migraines subsided. I began taking supplements and my primary care physician prescribed me medication to take for the heart palpitations.
My doctor’s babies (TWINS!) were born shortly after surgery so my follow-up appointment was pushed back until I could see her partner.
The extended timeline put me at risk of returning to work without being cleared.
My primary care physician was able to extend my medical leave, which was good because when I was able to see my surgeon’s partner, she said I was not healing internally as quickly as she hoped.
Finally, after 10 weeks, I was finally given clearance to go back to work. I can’t thank MomminWithEndo enough for their help and support!
